Annu Rani Biography: Annu Rani was born on 28th August 1992 in the village of Bahadurpur, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Her talent was identified by her brother who noticed her upper body strength at the time of the cricket match. He started to train her by asking her to hurl sugarcane sticks in an empty field.

Her first javelin stick was one that she made herself from a long piece of bamboo because she was not able to afford one. Then she started playing javelin throw first in the year 2010 at the age of 18. Her father disapproved of her for this sport but her brother supported her and paid her academic fees. She was initially coached by Kashinath Naik and now she is coached by Baljeet Singh.

Annu Rani Biography: Career

  • Annu Rani won the gold medal with a throw of 58.83 meters in the 2014 National Inter-State Athletics Championship in Lucknow. She broke the 14-year-old national record and qualified for the 2014 Commonwealth Games where she finished in eighth position.
  • She won a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea with a throw of 59.53 meters.
  • After that, she broke her record against the National Inter-State Athletics Championship with a two of 60.01 meters.
  • She presented India in the Olympics 2020 and 2024.
