Manchester United’s Alex Telles picks up an ankle injury ahead of upcoming season

Alex Telles has faced an ankle injury ahead of Manchester United’s pre-season friendly clash with QPR on Saturday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the 28-year-old defender will be “out for a few weeks” after suffering a knock in training. The Brazilian left back played in United’s 2-1 pre-season victory over Derby County last weekend but will miss next week’s friendlies against Brentford and Preston North End.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said in an interview with MUTV: “Unfortunately, Alex slipped and he twisted his ankle so he’ll be out for a few weeks. We’re hoping that it’s not going to be too bad but he’ll be out for a little while.”

Telles joined Manchester United on October 2020 for a fee reported about £15.4m. Telles signed a contract with United on Deadline Day in October last year until June 2024, with the option for an additional 12 months. Alex Telles was signed from Porto to provide competition for Luke Shaw.
