Alexander Rossi Biography: Alexander Rossi was born on September 25, 1991, in Nevada City, California, US. He started his career in the United States before moving to Europe as a youngster to seek a Formula One career. Rossi was a semi-finalist in the Red Bull F1 American Driver search in 2005 after earning IKF Grand National Champion in the 100cc Yamaha class. He finished in the top 5 out of over 2,000 nationwide candidates. Skip Barber Racing School awarded him the Skip Barber National Scholarship in 2006, allowing him to compete in the 2006 Skip Barber National Championship, where he placed third overall, becoming the youngest winner in Skip Barber National Championship history at the age of 14.

Alexander Rossi Career
Along with José Mara López and Jonathan Summerton, Rossi was one of three Formula One drivers associated with the American team US F1. Rossi was contracted to be the team’s backup and test driver before the team’s dissolution. In addition, he has tested the 2009-specification BMW Sauber F1.09 Formula One car in Jerez as part of Formula One’s junior driver test. This was awarded as a result of winning the Formula BMW World Final. Rossi was the only American with an FIA Super License when he passed this test.
Alongside Giedo van der Garde, he joins Caterham Formula one as a test driver for the 2012 Formula One season. During the first practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix, he drove Heikki Kovalainen’s car, becoming the first American to drive in a F1 session since Scott Speed at the 2007 European Grand Prix. In 2013, he drove for Caterham during the first practice session of the Canadian Grand Prix and the young driver evaluation at Silverstone in July. Later in the season, he participated in the opening practice session at his local United States Grand Prix race. In 2014, he drove the Caterham in the first Canadian Grand Prix practice session. Rossi left Caterham in July 2014, following Tony Fernandes’ departure and the entry of new Swiss and Middle Eastern investors.
Rossi made his 24 Hours of Le Mans debut in 2013, driving for Greaves Motorsport in a Zytek Z11SN. He was signed as a replacement for Christian Zugel, who could not participate due to family and professional obligations. Overall, he and his co-drivers, Eric Lux and Tom Kimber-Smith, placed 23rd.
Rossi participated in the 2014 24 Hours of Daytona for the DeltaWing team alongside full-time drivers Andy Meyrick and Katherine Legge and the eventual 2014 Indy Lights champion Gabby Chaves.
On December 7, 2018, Rossi announced that he would join Acura Team Penske for the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring. Rossi replaced fellow IndyCar driver Graham Rahal due to Rahal’s failure to receive an optimal seat fitting to maximize his performance. Rossi finished third overall and in class with fellow IndyCar Series driver Helio Castroneves and sports car driver Ricky Taylor at Daytona. The second half of the race suffered from nonstop rain, and Rossi conceded that the team’s competitors were slightly better in wet conditions.
On November 23, 2020, Wayne Taylor Racing announced that Rossi would be the team’s 3rd driver for endurance races beginning with the 2021 24 Hours of Daytona. Rossi co-drove the No. 10 Acura ARX-05 to the overall victory with previous Penske teammates Castroneves, Taylor, and Albuquerque. Rossi, Taylor, and Albuquerque won the Michelin Endurance Cup in 2021.
