Arsenal Transfer News: According to reports, Arsenal and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Raphinha’s status at Barcelona in the hopes of acquiring his services if he becomes available.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blaugrana are considering selling 26-year-old Raphinha in order to meet Financial Fair Play requirements. The Catalan giants are in dire financial straits and need to raise money immediately.
Both Arsenal and Newcastle are keeping an eye on Raphinha, who may return to the Premier League. He just recently departed English football, having moved from Leeds United to Barcelona for about £55 million last summer.
Despite interest from Arsenal and Chelsea, the Brazilian ultimately decided to sign with Barca. Raphinha has not succeeded at Leeds to the same degree as his predecessors. In 42 appearances across all competitions, he has contributed nine goals and ten assists.
Lionel Messi’s possible comeback to Barcelona keeps coming up in the media. They’ll have to make room for the Argentine legend, but Raphinha might fetch a nice price. According to Transfermarkt, he is worth $44.5 million.
Arsenal Transfer News: Arsenal receive update about Raphinha
With Bukayo Saka having played 3,263 minutes of football so far this season, the Gunners may be seeking to add some fresh legs to the lineup. Next year, they’ll be playing in the Champions League, so depth is important.
Meanwhile, Newcastle is on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League thanks to their great season. The addition of Raphinha would make an already fascinating group of attackers even more so. Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton, two Brazilians, also contribute significantly to the Magpies’ roster.
Raphinha’s time at Barcelona hasn’t gone according to plan since he hasn’t lived up to the club’s high standards. After his excellent performance for Leeds, the Brazilian was recruited because he was considered one of the most intriguing attackers in Europe. In 67 appearances with the Peacocks, he tallied 17 goals and 12 assists.
