Avinash Sable Biography: Avinash Sable whose full name is Avinash Mukund Sable is a famous Indian track and field athlete. He is specialized in competing in 3000 meters steeplechase. He is the athlete who holds the national record 8:09:91, which he set at the Paris Diamond League 2024 where he officially finished at the 6th spot. Avinash Sable Biography: He was born on 13th September 1994 in Mandwa, Beed district, Maharashtra. when he was just six years old, he used to walk around 6 km distance between his home and school because there was no transport facility. When he was attending his junior college, he worked on brick kilns and construction sites to support his family.

After that when he finished his Higher Secondary, he joined the 5 Mahar Regiment of the Indian Army with postings at the Siachen Glacier from 2013 to 2014, then he was posted at the desserts of north-western Rajasthan followed by Sikkin from 2015.

He took part in the inter-army cross-country running in 2015 at the insistence of his colleagues. After that, he switched to steeplechase under trainer Amrish Kumar. At that time Sable was overweight and with a lot of hard work, he managed to lose 20 kg in just three months. In 2018, he went back to coach Kumar as Sensarev’s training routine did not suit him.

  • Avinash Sable broke the 37-year-old national record of 8:30:88 held by Gopal Saini, by clocking 8:29:80 at the National Open Championships 2018 in Bhubaneshwar.
  • After that, he set a new national record of 8:28:94 in March 2019 at the Federation Cup in Patiala. Because of that, he officially qualified for the Asian Athletics Championships 2019 and World Athletics Championships 2019.
  • He also became the first male steeplechaser from India who qualify for the World Championship.
  • He won a silver medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in Doha in 2019.
  • In 2019, he once again broke his national record at the World Championships where he ran 8:25:23 in the heats.
  • He was selected in the final of the World Championships and there he became the first Indian who qualified for the 3000 metres steeplechase final.
  • He also improved his national record to 8:21:37 in the final. Then he qualified for the Olympics 2020.
  • He won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 20222 with a new national record time of 8:11:20.
  • He finished at the 35th position at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships in 2023 where he clocked 31:45 over the 10k distance in a field of more than 1000 athletics.
  • He qualified for the Summer Olympics 2024 after placing in the 6th position in the Diamond League 2023.

Avinash Sable was the part of Summer Olympics 2020, where he represented India. He got selected in that tournament because he set a national record of 8:21:37 in the final of the World Championships. In the Olympics 2020, he was placed in the 7th position in the heats, where see set another national record of 8:18:12. In that tournament, he was the fastest non-qualifier across all the heats.
