Barcelona agree to 5-year deal with Tottenham target

Barcelona is trying to cope up with the rest of the European elites in the transfer window. The club went past a period of subtle unrest and needs reconstruction. Club captain and starman Lionel Messi was tempted to move out of the club due to a lack of faith in the board. The transfer saga did not go well with President Bartomeu who blocked every transfer move for the Argentine.

The Barca board acted hastily in the past few months. They made horrible transfer decisions including the swap deal of Arthur Melo for Miralem Pjanic. Barcelona has not yet recovered from the financial crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic. Hence, the majority of the squad was available for transfer in this window.

However, the club did not receive any major offer for its players. Veteran players like Rakitic and Vidal have left the club for less fee. Rakitic returned to his former club Sevilla and Arturo Vidal completed his anticipated switch to Inter Milan. Barcelona needs to raise funds to sign new players and improve its squad.

Max Aarons and Sergino Dest Barcelona

The Blaugrana manager Ronald Koeman has finalized his team for the upcoming campaign. Suarez is not needed by the club and so will move to La Liga opponents Atletico Madrid. The Uruguayan seems to have his contract terminated with a mutual decision. Therefore, he can leave for free. This is not good news for Barcelona who are in desperate need of funds. Manchester City defender Eric Garcia almost signed for Barcelona but saw his negotiation stalled with a rise in his price tag.
