Ter Stegen about to renew his contract for Barcelona

Financial problems making it hard to finalize the terms
Ter Stegen’s current contract runs down upto 2022 which grants him 24 million euros per year. He is considering reducing his earnings but not less than 18 million euros per year and committing his future to Barcelona till 2025. If the 28-year-old agrees to the deal with the club wanting to spend, he will become the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world. The situation is problematic because the Catalan outfit has surpassed the staff’s cost limit in La Liga due to their significant fall in the budget, as per Goal.

The board members are considering to go ahead with the contract renewal with some opposition. They have not resolved the situation as a whole but Ter Stegen has decided to stay in Barcelona no matter what. This gives a sigh of relief to the club members as the German shot-stopper has been magnificent for the club saving them in tough situations. He has made a quick return to club football after successfully recovering from his knee injury.
