Barcelona inch closer to bagging Lautaro Martinez

The football season came to an abrupt halt owing to the outbreak of Covid-19. The break has given all the teams a chance to rethink their transfer strategies. Barcelona is one such team that has made evident that they are targeting the Argentine star striker Lautaro Martinez. Reports suggest that there have been ongoing talks between the two which initiated through a third source. Barcelona struggled in the current seasons in their attacking options and would look to strengthen their attack.

Lautaro, who has been identified as the replacement of Luis Suarez by the decision-makers in Barcelona, is also keen to make a move to the Spanish Champions. Lautaro formed a deadly partnership with Romelu Lukaku at Inter Milan. Martinez scored 12 goals in addition to three assists.

Inter want Arthur in return of Lautaro Martinez:

The financial implications suggest that Barcelona will not be able to meet the buyout clause of Martinez, which is reported to be set at £97m (€110m). The 22-year old is keen on moving to Barcelona, and the personal terms are not expected to be a hurdle. However, reportedly Inter Milan is not likely to budge on their asking price. The Italian club wants a player plus cash deal for Martinez if the Spanish giants are unable to match the buyout clause.

Reportedly, Inter Milan want Arthur plus cash in return of Lautaro Martinez. However, Barcelona has rejected the offer. Though, the team is willing to send Carles Alena and Nelson Semedo to the other side in return of Martinez. Carles Alena, who is currently on loan with Real Betis is a La-Masia graduate, still expects to make a place in the starting 11 of Barcelona under Setien. His willingness to play for Barcelona makes it difficult for Inter to persuade him to join them in their pursuit of winners trophy.
