Barcelona put FIVE players up for sale in January to save them from financial turmoil

La Liga giants Barcelona have been affected financially due to the coronavirus outbreak. The sudden gap since March caused losses to the club heavily as they could not raise funds from ticket sales or TV rights. Moreover, the free-spending on the big-money signings in the last few years has not paid off and the players, namely Ousmane Dembele and Griezmann are yet to prove themselves. They cost Barca over 100 million euros but could not show if they are worth the amount paid for them.

Josep Maria Bartomeu took some terrible transfer decisions which have led to the economic demise of the club and so the current president is taking due steps to avoid bankruptcy by New Year. Barcelona has already suffered due to their high wage bills during the signing of Memphis Depay on the deadline day of the summer transfer window. La Liga rejected the move on grounds of the high salary caps of Barcelona. Ronald Koeman was not happy about missing out on the Dutch striker as they had no replacement for Luis Suarez.

5 players to be sold and boost funding

Injury-prone Samuel Umtiti is quite inconsistent and will see himself out of Camp Nou which could fetch Barca a decent amount of money. Also, Ousmane Dembele is failing to put up stellar performances and do justice to the 140 million euros tag.
