Barcelona target said goodbye to his team-mates before completing the move

Barcelona has struggled to take steps to bolster the squad in the current transfer window. President Bartomeu replaced Setien with Ronald Koeman to take up the managerial job.

This is the only way the club can gain a boost to their transfer budget.

Barcelona sold Nelson Semedo to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wolves for €40 million. This sum could fetch them the replacement for a new right-back. Koeman has chosen Ajax full-back Sergino Dest to replace the Portuguese. The 19-year old youngster has shown enough potential and gains his major breakthrough. Considering his performances in the Eredivise, Koeman has made a fine move.

Dest has been linked with a move away from the club for quite a while now. Barca is not the only club chasing the US starlet. German champions Bayern Munich is also aiming to land Sergino to bolster their defence. However, it seems Barcelona’s move is more likely for the player. He can have more game time at Camp Nou than along with the Bavarians. Moreover, Sergino will directly replace Nelson Semedo for the right-back position.

Dest’s choice: Barcelona over Bayern

Rac1 via Gerard Romero confirmed that both the clubs have reached an agreement over Sergino Dest. The deal will cost Barcelona around €20 million. Dest has already bid good-bye to his teammates in the dressing ahead of his transfer. Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano also confirmed Dest choosing Barca over Bayern as his new club. Fans are awaiting the arrival of the new player after a period of unrest at Camp Nou. Barcelona will play their first match in La Liga tonight against Villareal. This will be Koeman’s first competitive fixture.
