Chelsea Step Up Their Intention To Bring In Goalkeeper; Latest Update On Havertz’s Pursuit

The Blues (Chelsea) are working their best to make this transfer window product. This is with a possible approach for a number one and positive news in their chase for Leverkusen star, Kai Havertz. Frank Lampard is desperate to get a goalkeeper after first choice and expensive signing Kepa Arrizabalaga facing a crisis in his role. The Spanish goalie has the worst save percentage in the league with a lack of leadership trait in his role. That has caused the club to concede more goals (54) than any other team in the top ten. This is a major concern for the club that needs to sort out that position before they play Champions League football for the new season.

Chelsea is linked with the world-class goalie and Atleti’s number one Jan Oblak. The goalie could be their shot-stopper next season. However, Oblak will, obviously, cost a big chunk of money. The Blues might only be getting him once his €120m release clause gets activated which the Stamford Bridge won’t be willing to spend. Also, Atletico’s club president Enrique Cerezo claimed that ‘Oblak is an Atletico player’. He added that the club won’t turn its head on him.

What He Told Marca?

“I always say that Oblak has a contract with Atletico and is the best goalkeeper in the world. It is not strange that he has offers from other great teams. I say the same as always. Oblak has a contract, he is an Atletico player, period. We have many players, our squad is the club’s main asset. Oblak is a magnificent player and in his position, unquestionably, there is no one to beat him right now.”

Hence, the Blues are weighing up other options. Andre Onana of Ajax being the one comfortable to chase for. Onana is a hugely valued keeper who previously played an integral role in the club’s journey to the 2017 UEFA Europa League final. The sensational campaign in the 2018/19 Champions League season where they reached the semifinals.

Also, he is young and talented and still in a growing period for a goalkeeper. Previously, Bayer Leverkusen was showing interest in the 24-year-old Cameroonian but had now backed off if the reports are to believed. This makes Chelsea the only suitor to his signing and he will be an important signing for the club if the deal goes through.

The Chelsea Saga Continues

Chelsea will at present negotiate with the German club to finally convince them with a few in order to secure Kai Havertz. The playmaker is happy that the Blues confirmed their Champions League status on the very last day of the Premier lesson season. He is reportedly weighing up his chances to seal the move finally.

However, Leverkusen is not happy with anything below the €90m price-tag. Chelsea only looking to go as high as eighty. Should that transfer goes by, the west London outfit will be a feared attacking force for the new season. They have already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech already arrived at the club.

Overall, Frank will be urging his board to secure these signings quickly. That is after the club was slapped with a two negotiations window ban, imposed by FIFA.
