Clayton Guida Biography: Clayton Charles Guida is an American professional MMA fighter competing in the UFC’s Lightweight division. He is also known as Clay Guida. Guida has been a professional fighter since 2003, having previously fought for Strikeforce, the WEC, King of the Cage, and Shooto. He was the official inaugural Strikeforce Lightweight Champion. He is mainly known as one of the toughest fighters in the history of MMA.

In the summer of 2003, Guida made his professional debut, losing via rear-naked choke in the first round. After compiling a 3-3 record, he won 15 consecutive bouts before giving in via submission in February 2006 at a King of the Cage event. Guida was eventually hired by Strikeforce and fought Josh Thomson for the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship a month later.

Clayton Guida won by unanimous decision before losing to the previously undefeated Gilbert Melendez. Guida got hired by Zuffa and the WEC after losing his next fight via submission in Japan. He made his promotional debut at WEC 23. He won by a unanimous vote. The UFC signed Guida, who had an overall record of 20-6.

Guida’s UFC debut was successful, as he defeated Justin James in the second round of UFC 64. The submission earned him the award for Best Submission of the Night. In his second UFC look, Guida lost a unanimous decision to Din Thomas at UFC Fight Night: Evans vs. Salmon.

Guida’s three-round split decision loss to Tyson Griffin at UFC 72 attracted attention. Each fighter received the Fight of the Night reward. At UFC 74, Guida rebounded from two consecutive defeats by defeating PRIDE veteran Marcus Aurélio via split decision.

Guida was defeated by Roger Huerta via rear-naked choke in the third round of The Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale after controlling the first two rounds. Each fighter received the Fight of the Night reward. At UFC Fight Night 13, Guida recovered his winning ways with a TKO victory over UFC newbie Samy Schiavo at 4:15 of the opening round.

He defeated Mac Danzig via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 15 (30-27, 29-28, 29-28). At UFC 94, Guida defeated Ultimate Fighter champion Nate Diaz via split decision. Each competitor received the Fight of the Night as a reward.

The fight between Guida and Diego Sanchez at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale, which Sanchez won by split decision on June 20, 2009, will be admitted into the UFC Hall of Fame during the July 2019 international fight, it was announced on June 28, 2019.

Guida fought Jim Miller on August 3, 2019, on ESPN 5’s UFC broadcast. In the first minute of the opening round, a guillotine hold resulted in his technical defeat. Guida fought Mark Madsen on ESPN 29 during UFC on August 21, 2021. A split decision decided the bout. On December 4, 2021, Guida fought Leonardo Santos on UFC on ESPN: Font vs. Aldo. Guida returned and won the fight via rear-naked choke submission in round two despite being nearly knocked out in round one by knees and strikes. This victory earned him the award for Performance of the Night.

Guida fought Claudio Puelles at UFC Fight Night 205 on April 23, 2022. A kneebar knocked him down in the first round. Guida fought Scott Holtzman on ESPN 42 on December 3, 2022. A split decision decided the bout.

On 15th April 2023, he faced Rafa Garcia at the UFC on ESPN 44. Unfortunately, he lost that fight by unanimous decision. After that on 2nd December 2023, he faced Joaquim Silva at the UFC on ESPN 52. Sadly, he again lost this fight fight because of the unanimous decision.
