Colin Davis Biography: Davis was born in Marylebone, London, the son of “Bentley Boy” and Le Mans winner Sammy Davis (who later became the sports editor of Autocar magazine). In the late 1930s, he attended Stowe School. Davis was an advertising professional who raced a 500cc Formula 3 Cooper before moving to Italy and pursuing his racing career.

Colin Davis Career
Davis raced in two Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, finishing 11th at the 1959 Italian Grand Prix in a Scuderia Centro Sud Cooper-Maserati. He has raced in a few non-championship Formula One races. In the 1960 Nürburgring 1000km, Davis finished ninth overall and first in class, sharing a Ferrari 250GT with Carlo Abate.
In the same event, he finished fourth overall in a Ferrari 250GT the following year, again with Abate. Davis also finished fifth in the 4-Hours of Pescara in 1961, driving solo in a 1,600 c.c. Osca Sport. In the 1964 Targa Florio, he and Antonio Pucci shared the winning Porsche 904 GTS. Davis moved to Cape Town after retiring from racing to work as a radio broadcaster. After a long illness, he died on December 19, 2012.
