Devdutt Padikkal Early Life
Devdutt was born in a middle-class family of Edappal town in Kerala, India to Babu Kunnath (father) and Ambili Padikkal (mother). He started practicing the sport from the age of 3 and soon showed up his cricket skills and enthusiasm to practice the sport. His greed towards the sport manifested in his father and soon decided to provide him professional training for the sport. His family settled in Hyderabad after his birth.
Later in 2011, his entire family shifted to Bangalore to provide Dev with professional coaching under specialized coaches. He completed his schooling at Army Public School and St. Joseph’s Boy’s High School. Devdutt completed his graduation from St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore. In the new city, he trained at the Karnataka Institute of Cricket under coach Naseeruddin who played a major role in developing and shaping his batting skills.
After three years of constant hard work and dedication to the sport, he started competing in U-16 and U-19 age categories representing the state. He astonished everyone with his performance at the 2017 Karnataka Premier League representing Ballari Tuskers.

- His interschool achievements helped him get selected in the U-16 and U-19 squad of Karnataka in domestic cricket.
- He faced a career turning point at the 2017 Karnataka Premier. In the tournament, he represented Ballari Tuskers against Bengaluru Blasters and scored a mind-blowing 72 of 53 balls.
- In 2018, he represented Karnataka and made his first-class debut at the 2018-2019 Ranji Trophy against Maharashtra.
- The year 2018 was the most blessed in his career. The same year he was selected in the U-19 Indian cricket team and was signed with Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
- In the consequent year, he made his List-A debut at the 2019 Vijay Hazare Trophy and also represented the state at the 2019 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
- At the Vijay Hazare Trophy of 2019-2020, he was the top run-scorer of the tournament scoring 609 runs in just 11 matches.
- Next, he made his appearance in India’s A squad representing at the 2019-2020 Deodhar Trophy.
- He retained with the IPL team of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 2020 Indian Premier League and was adjudged as the Emerging Player in the tournament.
- In his debut for the RCB, he scored astonishing 473 runs in 15 matches.
- The next year, he appeared at the 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy representing Karnataka.
- In June 2021, he was fortunate to get select in the Indian squad for representation at the Sri Lanka series in ODI and T20 International cricket format.
