Good News For FC Barcelona In Handling Economic Crisis

FC Barcelona is about to pay €52 million less in wages.

FC Barcelona News: Barcelona is now able to concentrate on bringing new players. The past few months did not go according to their plan at all. Barca players lost their trust in the board. After their dismal loss against Bayern Munich without a goal margin of 2-8,  the dressing room was morally down. Club captain and star player Lionel Messi submitted his transfer request. The Blaugrana fans were not at all happy with the circumstances in the club. President  Bartomeu managed to keep hold of Messi by blocking offers from Rival clubs.

However, the board decided to sell the wholes squad to reconstruct Barcelona. Only a handful was retained to stay. Ronald Koeman has had a tough job to accomplish as he took over the managerial job. Observing the pre-season performances by the players the Dutch has already finalized his squad. The surplus players are put on the transfer list and may leave before the window shuts. Barcelona has not actively participated in the current transfer break owing to its economic stability. The coronavirus pandemic has hit the top European clubs financially. Hence, the Catalan club is dependent on the sales they make. This also means there will be no big money signings this term until a swap deal strikes plus cash.

Moreover, La Liga’s governing body has imposed a temporary transfer ban on Barcelona. It is due to the fact the club maintains total wage bills above €500 million. They have been instructed to lower the bills so that they can bring in fresh legs this summer. Barca saving funds now to spend later.

The sale of Nelson Semedo to Wolves grabbed them about €40 million into their transfer budget. Barca looks to replace the Portuguese full-back with Ajax teenage star Sergino Dest in a couple of weeks. It will cost them up to €20 million. Having signed players like Griezmann, Dembele, and Coutinho in the past few seasons, the Catalunya outfit needs to postpone their transfer plans for next year.

Barcelona may free up some more funds on selling Samuel Umtiti. The French centre-back has been inconsistent since his arrival at the Camp Nou in 2016. He is injury-prone and cannot be counted on with his lack of fitness. Barca is hoping to offload the World Cup winner to Premier League clubs like Manchester United or Tottenham.
