Barcelona has not actively participated in the current transfer break owing to its economic stability. The coronavirus pandemic has hit the top European clubs financially. Hence, the Catalan club is dependent on the sales they make. This also means there will be no big money signings this term until a swap deal strikes plus cash.

Moreover, La Liga’s governing body has imposed a temporary transfer ban on Barcelona. It is due to the fact the club maintains total wage bills above €500 million. They have been instructed to lower the bills so that they can bring in fresh legs this summer. Barcelona has followed the orders accordingly and let go of players like Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez. As per AS, they have saved €52 million now itself. ((FC Barcelona News))

The sale of Nelson Semedo to Wolves grabbed them about €40 million into their transfer budget. Barca looks to replace the Portuguese full-back with Ajax teenage star Sergino Dest in a couple of weeks. It will cost them up to €20 million. Having signed players like Griezmann, Dembele, and Coutinho in the past few seasons, the Catalunya outfit needs to postpone their transfer plans for next year.

Barcelona may free up some more funds on selling Samuel Umtiti. The French centre-back has been inconsistent since his arrival at the Camp Nou in 2016.
