Barcelona had to sell some crucial players in the summer transfer window to raise their transfer budget and do business. Ronald Koeman sacrificed veterans like Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal, and Luis Suarez so that he can reconstruct the squad to compete in La Liga and Champions League. However, he admitted that not all the decisions were taken by him regarding the player sales.
Selling Luis Suarez: an ungrateful decision
The former Barcelona board along with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu pulled the strings behind the doors and triggered Luis Suarez’s transfer to Atletico Madrid for 6 million euros.
Bartomeu also blocked Suarez’s free transfer prior to his final deal with the Rojiblancos. The 33-year-old broke down in the press conference where he bid goodbye to the Catalan outfit. Barca captain and close friend Lionel Messi did not like how Suarez had to leave the club without a proper farewell and criticized the management for doing so.

Suarez ’will not celebrate’ against Barcelona
The Blaugrana is scheduled to face Atletico Madrid after the international break ends.
