Franco Comotti Biography: Franco Comotti was born in Brescia on 24 July 1906 but grew up in Bergamo. His entire life was spent in the petroleum business. He debuted at the 1928 Italian Grand Prix, driving a Talbot for Scuderia Materassi. After this race, Comotti left the racing scene but returned in 1931 to win the cyclecar race at the Circuito di Alessandria in a Salmson. In 1932, he became the official driver for the team after delivering an Alfa Romeo Monza sports car to Scuderia Ferrari in Modena for service.

Franco Comotti Career
Comotti won the Grand Prix du Comminges for Ferrari in 1934. Later that year, he and Carlo Felice Trossi finished third in the 1934 Italian Grand Prix. Comotti stayed a Ferrari driver until the end of 1935. Comotti came to France in 1937 to work as a test driver for the Talbot team. He was a client car tester and a reserve driver for the racing team. He won the RAC Tourist Trophy at Donington Park that year. Comotti left the team at the end of the season to drive for Laurie and Lucy Schell’s Ecurie Bleue in 1938. That year, he had his first Grand Prix appearance in Germany and his only appearance in Le Mans. However, he retired early from both races.
Following the war, Comotti worked as a test driver for the new Talbot-Lago T26C. In 1948, he also made some Grand Prix starts in that car. In 1950 Comotti joined Scuderia Milano as a test driver and competed in his first World Championship Formula One Grand Prix at the Italian Grand Prix. At the 1952 French Grand Prix, he made his second and final World Championship Grand Prix appearance, driving a Ferrari for Scuderia Marzotto.
