BCCI announce India’s Squad for 2021 T20 World Cup; Check the reactions of Indian fans after star players are left out of Squad

After much anticipation, India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be hosted in Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been announced and some particular decisions have taken the fans and cricket enthusiasts by shock. BCCI honorary secretary Jay Shah took pains to announce the squad tonight at 9 pm IST in a press release.

BCCI and the selection committee of India have taken some big calls ahead of the Quadrennial ICC tournament and they might prove to be make or break for the team. If the decisions of the Selection Committee goes wrong somehow, they will be surely put under the Damocles’ sword as this was clearly not the Squad that the fans had expected.

TEAM – Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohd Shami.

Shikhar Dhawan and Yuzvendra Chahl are the two main exclusions that the fans are objecting against the most. Shikhar Dhawan’s record in ICC tournaments has always been terrific and both he and Chahl did nothing wrong to be excluded from the national squad of a tournament as important as the T20 World Cup.

Another highly talked about decision is of putting Deepak Chahar, Shreyas Iyer and Shradul Thakur as reserve players – mainly the two fast bowlers. Both of them have proved to be a blessing in disguise for team India across important series of all the formats but them being kept as reserve players has shocked many fans. Instead, Axar Patel has been added to the squad and his inclusion is being questioned by every critic.

There has been a great decision too in the form of Ravichandran Aswhin as the replacement of Washington Sundar as the latter is suffering from an injury. Ravi Ashwin makes his return to the Indian T20 squad after a long time and he will be super hungry to prove himself in the shorter format of the game.
