IPL 2020: Brian Lara makes a huge comment on KL Rahul’s captaincy

KL Rahul’s captaincy skills in IPL 2020 has impressed the Caribbean legend, Brian Lara. Rahul was not having a good time in the IPL as a captain of the KXIP. Punjab was reeling at the bottom of the IPL 2020 points table. They were failing to get past the winning line, despite being in the winnings positions in many instances.

However, KXIP has made a strong comeback. They have won their last three successive matches and jumped to the 5th rank in the points table. In the last match, they defeated the Delhi Capitals by five wickets on Tuesday, October 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Lara feels that KL Rahul has improved his finishing skills, which he was lacking in the earlier matches. He is mighty impressed with Rahul’s versatility as a batsman. He feels that Rahul knows how to mould his game as per the match situations.

“He’s my test batsman, he’s my 50-over batsman and he’s my T20 batsman. As a captain, he has done very well. I love the way he bats, love the way he puts them together. Yes, he struggled to finish off matches towards the beginning but now he’s looking to improve that too,” Lara was quoted as saying in Star Sports.

Even, cricketer turned commentator, Aakash Chopra praised Rahul’s captaincy skills. He felt that Rahul could turn out to be the successor to Virat Kohli as a captain.

“I have hope that his captaincy will be good. Actually, we will get an idea of his captaincy, how he runs the game, what strategies he uses. If we see Kohli and Rohit (Sharma), they are of the same age bracket and at one time you may feel that they are not captain material anymore,” he had said.

Rahul is currently the Orange Cap holder in IPL 2020. He has scored 540 runs in 10 matches with an impressive average and strike-rate of 67.50 and 135.67 respectively.

He scored an unbeaten 132 against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai, which is the highest score by a captain in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). KXIP will now face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday, October 24 in Dubai itself.
