IPL 2020: Rahul Tewatia reveals his master plan of handling Rashid Khan

IPL 2020: The cricket fraternity heaped praises on Rahul Tewatia after his match-winning knock against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). On Sunday, October 11, he delivered yet another match-winning innings and this time it was against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Rajasthan Royals had to chase a total of 159 runs. At one stage the Royals were reeling at 94 for five after 15 overs. They needed 65 runs to win off the last 30 balls at a required rate of 13.

Tewatia had scored 7 runs off 11 balls at that time. In the 16th over of the innings, he pressed on the accelerator. He dominated the bowlers and found the boundaries with ease. Tewatia scored 45 off 28 balls which included four fours and two massive sixes. Tewatia showed his aggressive instinct against Rashid Khan who had conceded only 12 runs in his first three overs and scalped two wickets. (IPL 2020)

Tewatia hit Rashid Khan for three fours on consecutive balls. One of them was an audacious reverse sweep. He also won the Man Of The Match award for his incredible knock. After the match, Tewatia said how he composed himself when wickets kept falling at the other end and how he took on Rashid Khan.

“The wickets were falling so I just wanted to hold one end up and wait for the boundary balls. I knew if I keep my self-belief and take it deep, I could pull it off. Against Rashid, I saw the opportunity to play the reverse sweep and took it,” Tewatia was quoted as saying in the press conference. (IPL 2020)

Tewatia also had a heated verbal altercation with pacer Khaleel Ahmed who scalped the prized wickets of Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. About that altercation, he said, “No big deal, we just got taken away in the heat of the moment.”

Riyan Parag also supported Rahul Tewatia by scoring 45 runs off 28 balls which included four fours and two sixes. Parag hit the winning six in the penultimate ball of the final over. RR climbed to the sixth position in the points table with a five wickets win over SRH.
