IPL 2020: Star Player Likely To Be Ruled Out Of DC’s Upcoming Match Against CSK

IPL 2020: Veteran India off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin is expected to miss the upcoming Delhi Capitals’ match against the Chennai Super Kings on Friday, September 25 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Ashwin suffered a shoulder injury in the previous match while trying to stop a ball off his own bowling. He looked in terrible pain after that and had to get out of the ground.

Ahead of Delhi’s second match, Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach, Mohammad Kaif has stated that Ashwin has started his practice. However, they will take the final decision about his participation just ahead of the start of the match. If Ashwin fails to start in the next match, then Amit Mishra is likely to replace him in the playing XI. Mishra is the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL. (IPL 2020)

“Ashwin is going for practice today and we haven’t taken a call yet if he is going to be available or not for tomorrow’s game. We will see how the practice goes. We are monitoring him very closely,” Kaif was quoted as saying in a video conference.

“If he is not fit to play tomorrow, we have Amit Mishra who is a very experienced player. He has been doing well in IPL. So yes, that’s a plus point in this squad that we have got a replacement ready,” he added.

Ashwin could only bowl one over in the match against KXIP. However, in that one over he inflicted much damage to KXIP. He dismissed both Karun Nair and Nicholas Pooran and conceded just 2 runs. Delhi Capitals eventually won the match, which went to the Super Over. Ashwin has played 140 matches in the IPL and scalped 127 wickets at an incredible economy rate of 6.78.
