Varun Chakravarthy makes a huge statement after dismissing MS Dhoni

IPL 2020: Chennai Super Kings locked horns against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Abu Dhabi on October 7. KKR emerged on the winning side by 10 runs. Although CSK had a great start to the run chase, the middle order faltered to carry on the momentum, leading to their fourth defeat in five matches.

KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy said that he used to go to the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium yo watch MS Dhoni bat. So, it was very special for him to bowl against him last night. He even managed to dismiss MS Dhoni in Abu Dhabi. (IPL 2020)

IPL uploaded a video on their social media, in which the Man Of the Match, Rahul Tripathi questioned Varun that if he felt any pressure while bowling to the legendary MS Dhoni. Varun answered that he had to pinch himself to see if that was real.

“Yeah, yeah, because three years back, I used to come to the Chepauk stands and sit with the crowd, and I used to just come to see MS Dhoni batting. Now, I bowled against him; it was a surreal moment for me. After the match, I took a picture with Dhoni sir,” said Chakravarthy in the video. (IPL 2020)

In the 17th over of the CSK innings, Varun dismissed the CSK captain, MS Dhoni. Dhoni was trying to heave a delivery on the leg side and ended up missing it completely. The ball crashed into his stumps, much to the delight of Chakravarthy. MS Dhoni was looking very confident in that over, as he smacked him through covers in the previous ball. But Varun showed confidence and pitched it up in the very next ball to get the prized wicket of the CSK skipper.

Varun had a horrible IPL 2019 season, playing for the Kings XI Punjab. He just played one match and leaked 35 runs in three overs. In IPL 2020, he is trying to perform to the very best of his abilities. He is the leading wicket-taker for KKR and picked up 4 wickets in four matches. (IPL 2020)
