Jean-Clair Todibo Transfer News: Liverpool and Manchester United want him

Jean-Clair Todibo Transfer News: Ex-Barcelona central defender Jean-Clair Todibo has drawn attention from several top teams, including Liverpool and Manchester United.

The centre-back for OGC Nice is reportedly wanted by Newcastle United, Juventus, and Napoli, as reported by L’Equipe (via Get French Football News). Over the course of two and a half years, he was loaned out three times while on Barcelona’s books.

Todibo finalized his transfer to Nice in the summer of 2021, marking his last season with the Catalan giants. He has been a mainstay this year, starting every game he has played in (42 total) in all competitions.

The Frenchman’s four-year deal with the French club doesn’t expire until the conclusion of the next season. Both Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in signing him to bolster their defence.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are the starting central defenders for the Red Devils. However, how long Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof will be content with serving as backup defenders is an open question.

Meanwhile, Liverpool could benefit from adding Todibo due to the unfortunate injury histories of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. Despite Nice’s stated asking price of €40 million, the club may accept an offer of €30–35 million for the 23-year-old.

After this season, Roberto Firmino will be a free agent and has shown interest in leaving Anfield. To add insult to injury, MARCA reports that he has already offered himself to Barcelona for free this summer.

However, Brazilian legend Rivaldo warns Firmino against making the jump to the Catalonian giants. After eight seasons, Firmino has decided to quit Liverpool this summer. During that time, the 31-year-old has won every major club football prize there is.
