Jonty Rhodes responded to a Twitter user who said the LSG dugout was being pelted with objects by the fans

On Saturday, May 13 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Match 58 of the Indian Premier League 2023 took place between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Lucknow Super Giants. It was reported that nuts and bolts were thrown towards the LSG dugout during the first inning of the game.

The nuts were being hurled at the players, and one even struck Prerak Mankad in the head as he was fielding at long-on, according to LSG fielding coach and former South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes.

Rhodes responded to a Twitter user who said the LSG dugout was being pelted with objects by the fans. He wrote: “Not at the dugout, but at the players. They hit Prerak Mankad on the head while he was fielding at long-on. #noton”

After 18.4 overs, with SRH at 173/5, everything went down in the last over. Heinrich Klaasen, who was batting in the middle alongside Abdul Samad, moved towards the LSG dugout to find out what was going on, and play was paused for a while as a result. The players and coaches for Lucknow were unhappy with the crowd’s attitude, and the umpires even had to step in.

After the game, when asked about the incident, Klaasen expressed his displeasure with the crowd’s actions and noted that it had disrupted their momentum in the last stages of their innings. The South African batter complained to the umpires about the 19th and 20th overs, when he felt the game was decided unfairly.

Klaasen (47 off 29) was in fine form and approaching his fifty when the incident occurred, and he was out just two balls into the resumption of play. Even though Abdul Samad scored 37 not out off 25, SRH was only able to score nine runs in the last eight balls. They batted for their full 20 overs and ended with a score of 182/6.

With brilliant hits by Prerak Mankad (64* off 45), Marcus Stoinis (40* off 25), and Nicholas Pooran (44* off 13), LSG reached the score in 19.2 overs in their reply.
