Josh Philippe Biography: Josh Philippe born on 1st June 1997 is a top-order wicket-keeper batsman of Australia. He guided the BBL team of Sydney Sixers for their third BBL trophy in the 2020-2021 season equalizing the numbers with Perth Scorchers. Josh was also part of Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2020 Indian Premier League but took a break from the 2021 IPL for some personal reasons. He has established his dominancy in Australia through his performance of hitting big scores with long sixes.

Josh Philippe Biography: Early Life

Josh was born in a sport blood family to former cricketers Steve Philippe (father) and Leanne Philippe (mother) in Subiaco, Australia. He started playing the sport with his father and was always an athletic student in his school. Josh was included in the Talented Athlete Program in 2010 organized by the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA). He started his professional cricket training at the age of 13.

Within few months, he represented Western Australia in U-16 and U-19 squad. He made his first-class debut at the age of 21 at the 2017-2018 Sheffield Shield for Western Australia.

Josh Philippe’s Career

  • He made his List A and first-class debut for Western Australia at the 2017-2018 Sheffield Shield and 2018-2019 JLT ODI Cup.
  • In a match of the JLT Cup against South Africans, he scored 57 runs for Prime Ministers XI becoming the top-scorer in the match and being adjudged as the Man of the Match.
  • He was selected in the squad of Sydney Sixers as a wicket-keeper batsman for the 2019-2020 Big Bash League. In the tournament, he scored 427 runs in total and was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament.
  • In 2020, he was selected in the Australian team for the tour against England but unfortunately was not selected in the playing eleven.
  • For his unbelievable batting skills, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a base price of 20 Lakh in the 2020 IPL.
  • In 2021, he had a successful year making his debut for the Australian team in T20 and ODI against New Zealand and West Indies.
  • Philippe made 137 runs in the first game of the 2021–22 Marsh One-Day Cup in September 2021, against South Australia, to record his first century in List A cricket.
