He was unhappy with the board and the management as he put forward his condition to stay at the club. The Argentine wanted the current board to retire otherwise he will approach the exit door. However, President Bartomeu did not agree to his terms, and the Messi transfer saga accelerated with rumours of being linked to different clubs across Europe.

With Pep Guardiola as the coach, the chances were high as Messi flourished under the Spanish manager during his time at Barcelona. The duo went in for a trophy haul as Barcelona snapped up 6 trophies in a single season.


Had not Barcelona chief Josep Maria Bartomeu blocked every way to exit the club, Messi would have joined the Manchester outfit. De Bruyne laid down a similar response towards the same question a few weeks ago. The midfield maestro is concentrating on his own game and trying to better himself as they failed to compete against Liverpool and lost the league title. Kevin expects Manchester City to come back stronger as they want a consolidated campaign, especially in the Champions League. On the other hand, Lionel Messi has called it truce with the club board but Bartomeu has not yet left his position.
