Lance Stroll Career

Beginning in 2015, Stroll won the New Zealand-based Toyota Racing series with ten podium finishes, including four victories, in 16 races. The same year, he competed in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship for Prema Powerteam, a company where his father had a stake. He competed against future Formula One drivers Antonio Giovinazzi, Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Alexander Albon. He won one race at the Hockenheimring and finished on the podium six times throughout 33 races. He finished fifth in the championship standings. Stroll only appeared at the non-championship Formula Three Macau Grand Prix in 2015, where he finished eighth.

On November 11, 2015, it was announced that Stroll would be leaving the Ferrari Driver Academy to become a test driver for Williams. Stroll began 2016 by finishing fifth at the 2016 24 Hours of Daytona while driving a Ford EcoBoost Prototype for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing. He remained with Prema Powerteam for his second Formula 3 European Championship season for a third consecutive year. He won the first race at Circuit Paul Ricard and thirteen more races throughout the season, including the final five in a row. He won the championship with four races remaining and finished the season 187 points ahead of his closest competitor, Maximilian Günther.

Throughout the season, Stroll & his team were accused of making his title via team orders to his teammates. This was highlighted by George Russell, who stated at Le Castellet, where Stroll inherited the lead from a slowing Nick Cassidy, who ultimately finished second, that “it’s not a fair fight.”

Lance Stroll Biography

Stroll drove alongside Felipe Massa for the Williams team during the 2017 Formula One season. He became the first Canadian Formula One driver since Jacques Villeneuve won the World Drivers’ Championship in 1997. Lawrence Stroll reportedly paid Williams $80 million before his son’s Formula One debut.

Stroll will continue to race for Aston Martin in 2023 alongside Fernando Alonso, who replaces the retiring Sebastian Vettel. Felipe Drugovich returned the Canadian for all three days of preseason testing at Bahrain International Circuit after suffering a cycling accident during training. Stroll sustained multiple injuries in the accident, including a fractured and displaced right wrist, a fractured left wrist and hand, and a broken toe. His right wrist underwent minor surgery in which metal screws were inserted. He returned for the race and the practice sessions.

During the second free practice session, he reported continuous wrist pain that forced him to adopt a relaxed driving style; he stated that despite feeling “rather stiff,” he “felt fine” in the car. Stroll qualified eighth for the race and completed sixth despite colliding with his teammate on the opening lap. At the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Stroll experienced his first mechanical retirement of the season, and after a turbulent race at the Australian Grand Prix, he finished fourth. Stroll finished seventh in Azerbaijan and twelfth after being eliminated in the first round of competition in Miami.
