Leeds United sign midfielder Daniel James on a permanent deal from Manchester United

Leeds United have officially confirmed the signing of 23-year old Welsh midfielder Daniel James from Manchester United on a permanent deal for a transfer fee of £25 Million.

After days of anticipation, the Peacocks have finally wrapped up the agreement and Daniel James is now a Leeds United player. The 23-year old joined Manchester United back in 2019 at an age of 21 when the Red Devils signed him from Championship side Swansea City. Under the current contract, Daniel James will stay at Elland Road till 2026.

In the club statement that Leeds United released, Victor Orta, Leeds’ Director of Football revealed that he has been a great admirer of the player for a long time. Heaping praises for their new signing, Orta said, “I have to say a huge thank you to my team firstly – the football department have been monitoring Daniel for a number of years and every member of my team has worked hard to get this deal over the line. It is no secret that Daniel is a player we have been keen to acquire for a number of years and today we achieved our goal.”

“As a player we feel Daniel is an excellent fit for a Marcelo Bielsa team, he is quick, direct and works hard – we look forward to him joining up with the squad, finally!”

Following Daniel James’ move to Leeds United, the Red Devils bid farewell to the midfielder by sharing a video of his debut goal for them on their twitter handle with the caption “He will never forget this moment..”

Leeds United had always been interested in signing the promising Welsh youngster as he would be a perfect fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s style of play. They even came close to signing him in the 2018/19 Championship season but fell short to the bid of Manchester United a year later. However, they have now fulfilled their desire and will hope that the high transfer fee that they agreed to for him, pays off.
