Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane was booed by his own fans after their narrow victory against FC Köln in Bundesliga at their home stadium, the Allianz Arena. Bayern manager, head coach and one of their senior most players, Thomas Muller, have now reacted to the incident and have unifiedly come out in support of the German.
Leroy Sane was subbed out by Bayern’s new coach Julian Nagelsmann and Der FCB fans started whistling as the player was walking out of the field. The former Manchester City star had yet another awful outing with the German Champions and thus the toxic reaction of the fans.
Julian Nagelsmann shows his support for Leroy Sane
“Many people sitting in the stands have also made a mistake at their jobs. It’s not like Leroy comes and whistles when something doesn’t go right for them,” Nagelsmann told Sport1.
“I don’t think booing him does any good.”
“We all have to support Leroy to get fully on track, because he is a player with outstanding quality.”
What Thomas Muller said
Bayern Munich midfielder Thomas Muller also shares the same thinking. He said, “We don’t want that. That’s not nice. I expect more support for us players from the fans.
“On the other hand, you have to be able to deal with something like this to a certain extent. The public is keeping a close eye on us. A lot is expected of us, and we are well celebrated when things go well. Therefore, both sides have to handle the situation well.
“Leroy definitely has the absolute support from us in the team, and I hope that this can be transferred over to the stands,” concluded the 31-year old.
The high scoring match between Bayern Munich and FC Koln came to a gripping end. FC Koln nullified a two goal deficit in just 2 minutes and tuhs raised the bars of the game to the next level. FC Bayern Munich were lucky to eke out a win at the end, thanks to a late goal by Serge Gnabry who also completed his brace with it.
