Wayne Rooney: “Manchester United Have Good Shot at Winning the Premier League Next Season”

Manchester United legend and current Derby County manager Wayne Rooney recently said in an interview with talkSPORT that according to him, Manchester United have a ‘good shot at winning the Premier League’ next season.

The Red Devils finished second on the Premier League table last season and will definitely be looking forward to competing for the trophy this season. They have made some significant additions to their squad in the Summer transfer window so far and are expected to make a couple more. Former Borussia Dortmund player Jadon Sancho has already signed for them and Real Madrid defender Rafael Varane too is very close to finalizing a move to Old Trafford.

These are some of the prime reasons as to why Wayne Rooney feels that Manchester United are one of the serious title contenders this season.

“United fans will be excited with Sancho coming in, I’m sure there will be one or two more who come in,” Rooney told talkSPORT.

Wayne Rooney added: “I know the club very well, they’ll have expectations of themselves, expectations from the fans to be successful in a year which Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] will be looking at and really having a good shot at winning the Premier League.”

The upcoming season will be do-or-die for Ole Gunnar Soksjaer

Manchester United came close to winning the UEFA Europa League last season but fell short in the penalties. Despite having a terrific start to their season, the Red Devils went trophyless and head coach Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is under Damocles sword. If the head coach fails to bring some major silverware to Old Trafford this season, it is almost assured that he will be chalked off from his position.

The 2021-22 season of Premier League commencer on August 14th and only time shall tell if Manchester United are able to execute their plans and keep the hopes of Wayne Rooney alive.
