Manchester United Transfer News: Romeo Lavia is a target for Manchester United

Manchester United Transfer News: Romeo Lavia, a midfielder for Southampton, is apparently a target for Manchester United ahead of the forthcoming summer transfer season.

Since arriving from Manchester City for an initial fee of £10.5 million last summer, Lavia, now 19, has established himself as a crucial starter for Southampton. He has contributed two goals and one assist in 29 games for his team.

The right-footed, hardworking player endowed with speed and strength has garnered a lot of transfer interest from a wide range of Premier League teams in recent months. As relegation to the Championship seems inevitable for Southampton this season, clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal have been keeping an eye on the progress of the midfielder.

The Independent reports that Manchester United is also considering a summer move to acquire Lavia. Erik ten Hag, manager of the Red Devils, had high praise for the Belgian, who is seen as a potential long-term replacement for Casemiro.

If Lavia were to sign with Manchester United, he would give Ten Hag’s double pivot more competition for spots. After a few more seasons on the job, Lavia might easily take over for the elderly Casemiro.

Despite being under contract at St. Mary’s Stadium until June 2027, Football Insider reports that Lavia will be leaving the club this summer. He’s worth about £45 million right now.

Manchester United will likely sell off several of its first-team players to create a place for new acquisitions. To make room for the City Academy product, players like Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek might be released.
