MI vs CSK: Gautam Gambhir Reveals The Favourites For The Opening Clash

MI vs CSK: The Indian Cricket will resume with the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting on September 19. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the inaugural match of the IPL 2020. Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni will be the first two skippers to walk out on the cricket field. It will be weird to see the teams play without the presence of the fans. However, during these tough pandemic times, no other option is available. The IPL 2020 will take place without the fans in the United Arab Emirates.

There are only four days left for the start of the most anticipated tournament. The cricket experts have already started with their analysis of the IPL teams. Former India opener and current BJP MP, Gautam Gambhir, has also stated his views for the opening match of the IPL. The CSK and MI match has been an intense rivalry for the past few seasons. Now, they will again square off against each other in the inaugural match of the season. (MI vs CSK)

According to Gambhir, Mumbai Indians will be the favourites against CSK in the opening match. The presence of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult will tilt the match in Mumbai’s favour. Rohit Sharma will hand over the new ball to both of them and the duo could wreak havoc on the CSK side. Also, Shane Watson, the CSK opener, has not played much cricket recently. (MI vs CSK)

“I am very excited to see how Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah will be bowling together with the new ball. Because Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult are world-class bowlers and both of them are wicket-taking options in T20 cricket. A left-arm seamer who brings the ball in for right-handers and Jasprit Bumrah who is unorthodox,” Gautam Gambhir said while speaking in the latest episode of Star Sports Cricket Connected. According To Gambhir, the Yellow brigade will miss the presence of Suresh Raina at number 3. Raina has been the most consistent batsman for Chennai Super Kings over the years. Last month, Raina announced his decision to pull out of the IPL citing personal issues. Although there are chances that he might return later in the tournament, he still will miss the first week of the tournament. Gautam Gambhir stressed on the depth in the Mumbai lineup, which makes them the favourites in his high profile clash.

“It will be a huge challenge for Chennai Super Kings as they don’t have Suresh Raina at No.3, plus Shane Watson does not play much international cricket and has not played cricket for a long time, so how he plays against Bumrah and Trent Boult. We will also have to see with whom he would be opening the batting.

“I feel the Mumbai Indians have the upper hand if you see the balance and depth of the squad. They have also added Trent Boult to their squad, who will give them a very good option,” he added. (MI vs CSK)
