5 Times when MS Dhoni lost his coolness on the field

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni is always known for his tactics and mind games on the field. He is one of the most successful captains in Indian cricket history and moreover the most clever captain in the history of cricket.

His ability to make important decisions even in pressurizing situations made him famous among cricket fans with the name of Captain Cool. However, there are instances when captain cool MS Dhoni lost his coolness on the field and showed what he looks like with an angry face. Here are the top 5 incidents MS Dhoni was involved in.

5) Fight with Andrew Flintoff (2006)

The incident happened during a Test match between India and England in 2006 when MS Dhoni was facing Flintoff in the middle. Dhoni was hit on the helmet by a nasty bouncer from Flintoff. Still, in the early days of his international career, Dhoni didn’t showcase any emotions on the pitch but responded with his bat the very next ball and scored a boundary.

The match was being played in Delhi during an ODI series against West Indies. In the 49th over of the first inning, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was facing Dwayne Bravo and he set off for an easy single at the long-on to give the strike back to Dhoni. The ball traveled to Kieron Pollard who tried to outsmart Dhoni by holding the ball to himself for a few seconds. But, quick Dhoni took a second single in the meantime.

3) MS Dhoni knocked out James Anderson (2011)

During the 4th match of an ODI series against England in 2011, MS Dhoni was hoping to register their first win against England at the famous Lord’s Cricket Stadium. In the 44th over of the match, Suresh Raina was facing James Anderson. Raina failed to time the ball but MS Dhoni decided to take a quick single and collided with Anderson. Dhoni knocked out Anderson and commentators named it as a ‘rugby’ tackle.

2) Collision with Mustafizur Rahman (2015)

During the first ODI match against Bangladesh in Mirpur. Mustafizur Rahman collided with India opener Rohit Sharma while taking a single. Rohit was later seen pointing his finger at the bowler but the incident again took place in the 25th over when MS Dhoni was batting. Dhoni decided to take a single and Mustafizur quickly moved in the way and collided with him.

Later the India captain was fined 75% of his match fee, and the Man of the Mustafizur lost 50% of his. However, MS Dhoni claimed that he tried his 100% to avoid the collision and Team India also supported him.

1) MS Dhoni Was Almost Hit By Danish Kaneria Throw (2006)

During the Faisalabad Test against Pakistan in 2006, when Dhoni and Irfan Pathan were at the crease, India had scored 281 runs for 5 wickets. Dhoni blocked a ball from Danish Kaneria when he was on a score of 39. The spinner picked the ball and hurled it towards Dhoni. The ball missed the helmet by a few inches and landed in the hands of the wicketkeeper.

MS Dhoni remains silent on the incident and then he hit Kaneria for a huge six. Dhoni scored his first Test century in the match. He scored a total of 148 runs in 153 balls.
