WATCH: MS Dhoni replies back as the fans gather to cheer him during the CSK training

MS Dhoni shocked the whole cricket fraternity by announcing his retirement from international cricket last month. He was on sabbatical for more than a year and then announced his decision through an Instagram post. So, the fans are waiting to see their Thala play again in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League. The IPL 2020 will kick off on September 19 in UAE and will be played across three cities- Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

All the eight franchises had already reached UAE two weeks ago. They were on a mandatory 6 weeks isolation period and then underwent rounds of COVID-19 tests. After coming out negative, they started their training. However, CSK suffered a major setback as 13 members of the team tested positive for COVID-19. So, they had to spend 7 extra days in quarantine as a precautionary measure.

On Friday, they completed their quarantine period and started training for the T20 extravaganza. The IPL is set to start in two weeks, and the fans were excited to MS Dhoni start his training sessions. They came in numbers outside the ICC Academy in Dubai to witness Dhoni, despite the COVID-19 restrictions in the Emirates.

Dhoni’s fans wanted a glimpse of him and started cheering after seeing their Thala. Dhoni did not disappoint his ardent fans, as the 39-years-old waved at them. The video went viral in social media in no time.

CSK has had suffered a major setback before the start of the IPL 2020.

CSK has had a tough time in the last few weeks. First 13 members of the team tested positive for COVID-19, including two players- Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Then, the team Vice-Captain, Suresh Rina, decided to pull out of the IPL and return to India citing personal reasons.

On, Friday, the Yellow Army suffered another setback. The off-spinner Harbhajan Singh was set to join the CSK squad in the first week of September. However, he suddenly decided to pull out of the tournament citing personal reasons.

CSK has still not named any replacement for both Raina and Harbhajan. the Yellow Army will be looking to win their fourth IPL title under Captain Cool, MS Dhoni, despite facing such major setbacks.
