MS Dhoni: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continued with their dismal runs of form in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They lost three consecutive matches in a row on Friday. CSK faced the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 14 of the tournament. SRH set a target of 165 runs for the Yellow brigade to chase. CSK managed to score 157 runs and lost the match by 7 runs.
Chennai Super Kings lost three successive matches for the first time since the 2014 season. CSK hasn’t been performing while chasing totals off late. They again got off to a very bad start against the Sunrisers. CSK lost early wickets and were reeling at 42/4 in the 9th over. Captain MS Dhoni (47*) and Ravindra Jadeja (50) tried to consolidate in the middle and register a memorable win for the Yellow army.
However, they could not manage to take CSK past the winning line. At one moment, MS Dhoni was looking completely fatigued on the field. He was even struggling to run properly. However, he still continued to take the singles and doubles and kept CSK in the game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Dhoni revealed that the dry and harsh conditions in Dubai was effecting him and hence he decided to rest a bit.
MS Dhoni reveals the reason for his discomfort.
“I tried to get as much as time as possible. It is quite dry out here. So, the throat gets dry and you start to cough. When you have legal signs, you can take some time off,” Dhoni was quoted as saying after the match.

CSK fans praised the efforts and determination from their captain. Former Fast bowler RP Singh and veteran pacer Sreesanth also heaped praise on Dhoni for his determination on the field.
MS Dhoni was not finding it easy to time the ball from the beginning. When he started to feel easy, the required rate had already climbed up to 12. CSK needed 28 runs to win off the last over. However, MS Dhoni and Sam Curran could manage to score only 20.
“I was not able to middle a lot of deliveries. Was trying to hit it too hard. When the wicket is slightly at the slower side, it is better to time it. Looking at outfield it was subconsciously coming to us to hit the ball hard,” he stated.
Dhoni also talked about the areas where CSK needs improvement. “Long time back once we lost three in a row. We need to get a lot of things right. It is professionalism. We need to take our catches not bowl no-balls. Those are controllable and maybe we are getting too relaxed,” Dhoni added.
At one stage, CSK was in a dominant position when SRH were reeling at 69/4. However, Priyam Garg (51*) and Abhishek Sharma (31) played two vital innings to guide the team to a decent and competitive total. In reply, CSK could not handle the pressure of the asking rate yet again and lost the match in Dubai.
