Nyck de Vries F1 Career
In 2010 De Vries joined the McLaren Young Driver Program, and in 2016, he joined the Audi Sport Racing Academy. Before the 2019 season, he left McLaren to concentrate on his duties at Audi, where he remained until September 2019.
De Vries and Stoffel Vandoorne conducted their first Formula One test for the Mercedes team during the season-ending Young Driver Test in December 2020. The following season, he became one of the team’s reserve drivers alongside Mercedes-EQ teammate Stoffel Vandoorne.
At the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix, he made his Formula 1 practice debut, replacing Alex Albon at Williams for the hour-long session. De Vries ran in another practice session for Mercedes in preparation for the Grand Prix de France, replacing seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton. De Vries then replaced George Russell in practice for the Mexico City Grand Prix while driving a Mercedes.

He could advance to Q2 and qualify thirteenth, defeating colleague Nicholas Latifi of Williams. He started eighth after multiple drivers were assessed penalties. Fans voted him Driver of the Day after he completed the race in ninth place and scored points in his debut.
De Vries has been signed by Scuderia AlphaTauri for the 2023 season, replacing Pierre Gasly, who is moving to Alpine.
