The Dutch gaffer took some immediate steps upon his arrivals. He awaited pas the pre-season campaign to decide his squad based on the performances of the players in those matches. Also, Koeman kept in mind to experiment with his new formation to know if the team is compatible or not.

This plan included the new signings of Francisco Trincao from SC Braga and Pedri from Las Palmas. Dest is the new inclusion to the squad who will bolster the defensive line. Koeman realizes he has to strengthen the defense in order to compete fiercely in Europe as well as in La Liga. Hence, he is pursuing a young center-back, Eric Garcia.
The 19-year-old is one of the top summer targets for Barcelona. Pep’s side has recently signed Ruben Dias from SL Benfica which puts Garcia’s position in jeopardy. Pep Guardiola was recently asked about the future of Eric at the Manchester outfit. ESPN reports that Pep was not sure of the transfer deal. The Spaniard manager acknowledges the centre-back as theirs for now and realizes Barca wants him but no deal has been struck between both the clubs as for now. He added that anything can happen before the transfer window shuts on Monday.
Koeman is trying hard to snap up Eric Garcia. He does not want to wait for another year when the defender’s contract runs to sign him for free. The Blaugrana is plotting a swap deal for Eric offering Rafinha Alcantara along with a sum of €8 million.
