Prashanth Kumar Rai’s Early Life
Prashanth was born in a remote village Kaikara in Mangalore district in Karnataka, India to a middle-class farming family. Kabaddi was obscure and was not much played in his village. He was the eldest among all brothers which forced him to study and earn a job without getting involved in sports.
He was never a sports enthusiast but practiced weight lifting during his college. Prashanth was introduced to the sport in his college getting manifested by his senior who practiced the sport. Without wasting further time, he enrolled his name in the kabaddi team and started practicing the sport as a defender.
He was recommended by his kabaddi coach to focus on raiding skills for his huge height. Soon, he started representing his college in local tournaments and was selected in the kabaddi team of Kotak Bank. He was provided the opportunity to work and represent the team in kabaddi tournaments.
His raiding skills were highly noticeable which helped him get elected in the inaugural season of PKL.

Prashanth Kumar Rai’s Performance in Pro Kabaddi League
- Prashanth was singed to Telegu Titans for the inaugural season and retained with the team till the 3rd PKL season. In his debut season, he scored just 5 points in 7 matches.
- He was given much importance in the 2nd season and played 15 matches for the team. Playing 15 matches, he scored 54 raid points with 1 Super 10’s.
- In the 3rd season, he had a poor-performance throughout the season with unstable team management. He, unfortunately, scored just 12 raid points of 13 matches.
- For inconsistent performance, he was released by Telegu Titans and was bought by Dabang Delhi in the 4th PKL season. The improper team combination led to the failure of the team in the season. He scored 19 raid points in 9 matches.
- In 5th season, he was bought by Haryana Steelers to lead the raiding scores of the team. He had an astonishing throughout the season scoring 78 raid points with 3 Super 10’s and Super Tackles in 16 matches.
- He was bought by UP Yoddha in the 6th season and came up with his best performance eclipsing the mark of 100 points in the season. In the season, he scored 144 raid points in 21 matches with 5 Super 10’s.
- In the 7th PKL season, he was again bought by Haryana Steelers and scored 91 raid points in 16 matches.
- For the 8th edition of PKL in 2021, he was bought by Patna Pirates for his consistent performance and potential to score big.
