Rakesh Kumar Biography: Early Life
Rakesh was born in Nizampur, Delhi in a Hindu family. He started playing kabaddi from the age of 5 and got completely dedicated to the sport within a short interval of time. He was inspired by his seniors who practiced the sport with the same intensity.
Soon he started competing in kabaddi tournaments. Previously, he represented his school in inter-school competitions. Before making it to India’s Senior National Kabaddi Team, he represented Delhi in nationals. He was called up to the Senior National team in 2003.

- Rakesh made his first international debut representing India in 2003.
- In the consecutive year, he was fortunate in winning his first international gold at the 2004 World Cup.
- Soon, he showed his quality skills and helped India bag gold medals at the 2006, 2010, 2014 Asian games.
- He was fortunate in winning another World Cup in the year 2007.
- Rakesh has also won gold medals at the 2006, 2010 South Asian Games and 2007, 2009, 2013 Asian Indoor Games.

- He retained with Pirates for the 2nd Season. He scored 3 tackle points and 14 raid points in 4 matches.
- In seasons 3 and 4, he was signed with the U Mumba.
- He played 15 matches and scored 33 raid points and 18 tackle points in the 3rd season.
- In the 4th season, he scored 44 raid points and 26 tackle points in 14 matches.
- During the PKL season 5, he was signed to Telegu Titans and scored 7 raid points and 16 tackle points in 10 matches.
