RCB has been heavily dependent on their strong batting lineup, since the start of their IPL over the years. They will again be dependent on the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to take them past the winning line. However, their arch-nemesis has been their bowling lineup. The underperforming bowling attack and over-reliance on the batting stars have kept them away from any IPL title.
Kevin Pietersen feels that RCB has got the much-needed boost in their bowling attack this season.(RCB News 2020)
Former England International, Kevin Pietersen was a part of the RCB team in the 2009 and 2010 season. He pointed out the weakness in the bowling attack of the RCB. He stated that RCB ahs two of the strong pillars in their line up- Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers.
However, Pietersen said that they did not have the spark in their bowling attack all throughout the years. Now, the addition of Dale Steyn and Adam Zampa will give the much-needed boost to their bowling attack. Besides those two, they also have the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj. (RCB News 2020)
“I don’t know how many IPLs I have done now, sitting here and previewing every single one of them. It’s always that question about RCB and can they do it. Now, they are proven performers with the bat, they can bat and are brilliant with the bat. They have the greatest batsman, the greatest modern-day batsman that’s in their team, they’ve got the second greatest modern-day batman that’s in their team as well,” said Pietersen on Star Sports’ Cricket LIVE.
“They form a formidable batting partnership and I stress the batting partnership because what they’ve lacked is bowlers. Last year, when Dale Steyn came over, having lost a number of games in a row, they got a fast bowler and they started to win a couple of games. So, the strength and depth that they would have brought into that, the acquisition of Adam Zampa as well has been good,” he further added. (RCB News 2020)
