Real Madrid Transfer News: Ferland Mendy, a left-back for Real Madrid, is apparently attracting attention from Chelsea. The Frenchman is on the Blues’ radar as a potential new defensive addition.
According to El Nacional, Chelsea has shown interest in Mendy and plans to make a summer transfer for him. They are apparently holding off on making any player moves until Mauricio Pochettino is officially named manager.
The report claims that Real Madrid is willing to negotiate a deal and have placed the asking price at €40 million. Carlo Ancelotti is willing to approve the sale because he wants to bring in a left-back with a stronger defensive mentality.

Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella are currently competing for playing time at left-back for Chelsea. But talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor has warned the Blues that signing the Spaniard was a mistake.
He said: “They put Chilwell on for [Marc] Cucurella. Chilwell’s flying forward, scores a goal. [Cucurella], I’m not having him. I don’t understand [spending] £60m. He’s not good technically, very erratic. Silly fouls. Put that towards Declan Rice. I thought Chèlsea got away with one and West Ham were very unlucky not to get a point.”
The Blues beat off competition from Manchester City to capture Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.
Thomas Tuchel loaned away highly regarded Chelsea player Ian Maatsen. The club and the player mutually agreed that a loan transfer would be best since the teenager recognized that he would not get significant playing time under the German coach.
Maatsen went on to help Burnley win the Championship and earn promotion to the Premier League.
