Reetika Hooda Career
Reetika Hooda won a bronze medal in the women’s 72 kg event at the Ibrahim Moustafa Wrestling Ranking Series in Egypt in 2023. Then she won a bronze medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2023. Then in October 2023, she became the first Indian female wrestler who won a gold medal at the World Championships 2023.
In 2024, she competed at the Asian Wrestling Olympic Qualification Tournament in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. There she earned a quota place for India for the Summer Olympics 2024 in Paris, France. Hooda became the first Indian woman who qualified for the Olympics in the 76 kg category.

Reetika Hooda represented India in the Summer Olympics 2024. She represented her nation in the heavyweight class of 76 kg. She became the first Indian woman who represent India in this event. This was a completely new category for her before this tournament she competed in the 72 kg in 2023.
In the tournament, she was the sixth and final wrestler of the Indian contingent. She competed against Bernadett Nagy of Hungary in her opening round. The match was started at 2:30 PM on Saturday. She begins her round of 16 campaign in the women’s 76 kg freestyle category. Unfortunately, she did not win any medals in the tournament. But she made a very big contribution in this tournament from India. She got eliminated after losing her quarter-final match in the women’s 76 kg wrestling event at the tournament.
She was the last Indian athlete to compete in the Summer Olympics 2024. Her exit ended India’s campaign at the tournament. She lost the last match after she went for an all-out attack in the second period and she scored eight quick points to win on technical superiority.
