He then defeated Jeremy Horn via split decision. He went on to compete in the King of Kings tournament, where he was eliminated in the first round by Fedor Emelianenko for his first defeat. The Brazilian controlled Emelianenko with takedowns and a superior ground game. Still, because the RINGS ruleset awarded more points for aggression than for positional control, Fedor was awarded the victory for attempting more submissions during the match.
