Rohit Kumar Biography

ROHIT KUMAR born on 19th January 1990 is an Indian kabaddi player. He is a member of the Indian National Kabaddi Team and will be playing for Telegu Titans in the 2021 VIVO Pro Kabaddi League season 8. Rohit has set a record of becoming the first PKL player to eclipse 30 points in a single match against U.P Yoddha representing Bengaluru Bulls in season 5. He has been an excellent player to score 100+ points in every PKL season. Kumar made his first international debut in the 2016 South Asian Games and was successful in winning a gold medal with his frog jump mastery.

Rohit Kumar Biography: Early Life

Rohit was born in Nizampur Village of Panipat District in Haryana, India to a sport blood family with his cousins, Manjeet Chhillar who is in the squad of the Indian Kabaddi team. His village seniors and cousins played a major role in enhancing the interest from Rohit for kabaddi. 

His father worked in Delhi Police due to which, Rohit’s diet never was strained. Meanwhile, Rohit became career-oriented for the sport and began taking professional training. Soon his raiding skills were visible by his seniors. This helped him gain motivation and started playing in school competitions. 

After struggling in state and district competitions, Rohit was finally selected in the Senior Indian National Kabaddi team for the 2016 South Asian Games. Mind-blowing performance at the internationals cleared his way for the PKl season 3.

  • Rohit made his first international debut at the 2016 South Asian Games representing India. In the tournament, India won gold after defeating Pakistan in the finals with a great margin.
  • Later Rohit made his debut at the 2018 Dubai Kabaddi Masters and was successful in bringing another victory for team India.

  • Rohit’s professional kabaddi career started after getting selected in the Indian National team and winning a gold medal for the country. He was signed to Patna Pirates in the VIVO Pro Kabaddi League after having an enormous performance at the internationals.
  • He was bought by Patna Pirates in the 3rd season of PKL. Rohit was dignified as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament for the season because of his ruthless performance with 102 raid points and 7 tackle points in 12 matches.
  • In the 4th season, he was signed with Bengaluru Bulls for Rupees 81 Lakhs in 2017, where he scored 93 raid points and 7 tackle points in 14 matches.
  • Rohit retained with the team for the next season and score his personal best high score of raid points in a season with 219 raid points and 12 tackle points in 22 matches.
  • He was given the captaincy of Bengaluru Bulls for the 6th season under which he managed to score 162 raid points and 9 tackle points in 24 matches. 
  • In the 7th season, he scored 94 raid points and 6 tackle points in 19 matches.
  • He will be representing Telegu Titans in the 8th season of Pro Kabaddi League in 2021.

Rohit Kumar Biography: Controversy

  • Rohit and his father were accused of being guilty in Lalita Dabas (Rohit’s late wife) suicide case. The plot started in 2012, after some months of their marriage when Lalita committed suicide hanging on the ceiling at her parent’s house.
  • Before committing suicide, Lalita recorded two long voice recordings on her mobile detailing how she was threatened and beaten by Rohit and his family. She subjected that Rohit started torturing her for dowry due to which she committed suicide. For this, Rohit was sent to jail but later was found sinless in the case.

  • Rohit married Lalita Dabas on 11th March 2012.
