Players bought in IPL 2020 Auctions: Aaron Finch, Shahbaz Ahmed, Joshua Philippe, Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, Pavan Deshpande, Kane Richardson, Dale Steyn

Strength:

The strength of the RCB team is very similar to the previous years. The team is stacked up at the top with arguably two best limited over players of the past decade AB De Villiers and Virat Kohli coming to bat in the top four for the side. The addition of Aaron Finch will remind of the golden days when Gayle used to open the innings for the team. Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Washington Sunder provides brilliant all-round options for the team. The arrival of Chris Morris further boosts the all-rounding prospects. The batting department of the team is looking settled, and they can chase any target or can put any score on the board when batting first.

Kohli vs de Villiers

Weakness:

When compared from the last year, the gap of the team is pretty similar to last year. The team lacks match-winning options in the bowling department. A lot of the onus will lie of Dale Steyn, but he is not a similar bowler, which he once was and is troubled by injuries and increasing age. Kane Richardson can be an option, but he has proven ineffective in Indian conditions till now.

Opportunities:

RCB has acquired Devdutt Paddikal. Padikkal was the highest run-scorer for the Karnataka team in Vijay Hazare trophy. He has impressed everyone with his batting and is often compared with KL Rahul in his batting style by the team management of Karnataka. The lack of openers in RCB squad will make sure that Devdutt Padikkal will get the opening slot for the team. Devdutt will get ample opportunities to prove himself in IPL 2020. Bangalore team also has a few all-rounders in Washington Sunder and Shivam Dube, who would be eager to establish themselves in the Indian circuit. Navdeep Saini will also hope to make a name for him and cement his place in the national team.

Threats:

A similar narration can be felt when looking at the team sheet of RCB. The team is once again top-heavy, and the middle order is almost invisible. The team has a lot of bits and pieces player in Dube and Sunder, who neither are dependable batsmen nor bowlers. The bowling looks depleted with a lot of dependency on Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini, who is highly inconsistent and inexperienced, respectively. Any injury or unavailability to either of their big two in Virat Kohli and AB De Villiers will also expose their batting.

RCB: Conclusion:

A similar story of failure may be on the cards for the Bangalore team. The team is unbalanced, and there are a lot of loopholes. However, a Kohli master class or the De Villiers miracle can save them any day and make them win any match. The Bangalore team management will hope for as many masterclasses from these two as possible.
