Sunil Gavaskar chooses a combined India Pakistan squad. Chose a Pakistani player over Virat Kohli

The cricketing rivalry of India and Pakistan is World renowned and often regarded as the fiercest rivalry in the World of cricket. Both the nations are often involved in a period of heated arguments and banters for each other. This rivalry was at peak during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s when Pakistan cricket was dominating the World.

Sunil Gavaskar and Ramiz Raza are two players who are well aware of these times and played a lot of cricket during these times. Both the players have attained the status of legends in the cricket fraternity and are often spotted in the commentary box in present times. Both the players recently took to Social Media to reveal a common peak of the two rivals.

Ramiz Raza chooses an Indian centric squad:

Both Sunil Gavaskar and Ramiz Raza presented their combined India and Pakistan Best XI. The list was presented by Sony Sports who will be broadcasting the repeat of Benson and Hedges final on 17th May.

Ramiz Raza, who is one of the most vocal supporters of Pakistani dominance over India in term of numbers surprised a lot of people with his combined XI. The Pakistani legend chose a batting line up completely made up of Indian batsman. The line-up is more surprising because Ramiz Raza has often proposed that Babar Azam is a better batsman than Virat Kohli. However, he did not hesitate in omitting Babar from his side and instead chose Virat Kohli at one down. Virendra Sehwag, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni completed the batting line up for Ramiz Raza. He named Imran Khan as the captain of his squad. Ramiz Raza chose all-Pakistani players other than Anil Kumble in his 11.

On the other hand, Sunil Gavaskar surprised a few with his team selection. Though, Gavaskar also maintained Sehwag and Tendulkar in his squad, he omitted Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli from his side and instead chose Zaheer Abbas at one down. The choice of Syed Kirmani was especially puzzling for a few fans who weren’t able to justify his inclusion in place of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Gavaskar refrained from choosing a captain. He also made a few changes to his bowling line up with Abdul Qadir and BS Chandrashekhar commanding a place in his XI.
