It has been known that his father enrolled him in the Maharashtra government Krida Pabhodini sports program. But after a hardcore physical training of one year, he had to select one sport and then it ended up by selecting shooting. Then in 2015, he became a ticket collector for the Indian Railways in Pune, which helped him buy his first rifle.

- Swapnil Kusale started his journey at a very young age.
- In 2015, he officially won his first gold medal in the 50m rifle prone 3 in the junior category at the Asian Shooting Championships in 2015 in Kuwait.
- In 2015, he also won the 59th National Shooting Championship that was held in Tughlakabad ahead of the Gagan Narang and Chain Singh in a 50m rifle-prone event.
- After that in 2017, he repeated the same performance in the 61st National Championship in Thiruvananthapuram as he won the gold medal in 50m rifle 3 position.
- In 2022, he earned an Olympic quota berth for India in the men’s 50m rifle 3 position event with a 4th place finish at the ISSF World Shooting Championships in 2022 in Cairo.
- In 2024, he was officially selected in the Indian Olympic 2024 team in the 50 metre rifle 3 positions event after the trials in Bhopal and Delhi.
