Two managers who can replace Nuno Espirito Santo as Tottenham Hotspur’s head coach

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have sacked their head coach Nuno Espirito Santo and are currently in search of a new manager to replace him. The news comes 2 days after the Londoners suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat against Manchester United at home but it would be naive to say that that was the sole reason. Spurs have been underperforming since the very beginning of the season under their new coach Nuno Espirito Santo, the former Wolves manager, and Daniel Levy, being a very demanding man as the world is well aware of, decided not to set such low standards for the club anymore. He was relieved of his charges just within 4 months of being appointed.

With the Portuguese manager being shown his way out of the club, the question arises who will be the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur. There are all sorts of rumours and ‘reports’ being spread on social media, some of which are completely baseless. In this article, we will be discussing 2 ‘real options’ that Tottenham Hotspur currently have and you can rest assured that the next Spurs manager will be someone from this list.

Nuno Espirito Santo – Tottenham Hotspur’s former manager

2 managers who can replace Nuno Espirito Santo at Tottenham Hotspur

1. Antonio Conte – But wait a second? Isn’t it a rule of Antonio Conte that he doesn’t take charge of any team mid-season? Well, it is but it seems like the Italian manager has decided to make an exception this time out. Maybe because he is without a suitor right now. Manchester United have seemingly made contacts with him but their love and hate relationship with their current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes it highly doubtful as to whether Conte will ever truly get the chance to manage the red devils in the near future. So Spurs remain the only plausible option.

According to Fabrizio Romano, it is a matter of time before Antonio Conte is officially announced as the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur as the two sides have already reached an agreement. But given the past record that Tottenham have of changing their decisions at the last minute, we should not draw conclusions this fast.

2. Paulo Fonseca – Paulo Fonseca is another manager that Tottenham had made contacts with ahead of the pre-season and there was a point when the Italian was sure that he was going to manage the English club this season as they had reached full agreement. But there was a mood-swing among the higher authorities of the club all of a season and they thought against appointing Paulo Fonseca.

Fonseca has a great record with his former side AS Roma and he can do wonders with Tottenham Hotspur should he be given the opportunity.
