Transfer News: Real Madrid set €30 million asking price for Brahim Diaz with AC Milan wanting a permanent deal

AC Milan reportedly want to sign Real Madrid loanee Brahim Diaz on a permanent deal with the Los Blancos demanding a transfer fee of no less than €30 million (£26m/$37m) for the 21 year old midfielder.

Brahim Diaz joined Italian giants back in September 2020 in a season-long loan transfer. Since moving to Real in January 2019 from Manchester City, the youngster rarely found a place in Zinedine Zidane’s playing XI at the Spanish club, due to the tremendous competition in Real Madrid’s midfield. He therefore considered it necessary to join another club to find some game-time, and hence the loan move to AC Milan last season.

Brahim Diaz, in his one year spell at Milan, has highly impressed head coach Stefano Pioli, who now wants to bring in the spanish under 21 star on a permanent deal. Brahim played 27 matches in Serie A this season, of which he started 15. He scored 4 goals and also provided 3 assists. In the few chances he got, the youngster did not miss to leave his mark.

AC Milan finished second in Serie A this season and qualified for the UEFA Champions League after a wait of 8 long years and Brahim Diaz has been one of the key players of AC Milan this season who made it happen.

Diaz’s loan spell at AC Milan expires at the end of this month and if the negotiations between the two clubs do not materialize, the 21 year old will have to return to Madrid after that. However, reports say that AC Milan are pushing hard to make the transfer happen.

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane had made it seemingly very clear last year that Brahim Diaz was not in his plans, which made Brahim Diaz’s permanent move to AC Milan look imminent.

What does Brahim’s future hold?

Carlo Ancelotti wants Brahim Diaz to stay at Real Madrid

But the tables have turned now, and with the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid’s new head coach, things have changed a lot. The Italian coach reportedly does not want to take a decision about Brahim Diaz without testing the youngster himself first. Ancelotti thinks that the Spaniard might have a bright future here at Madrid.

It is being learnt from various sources that Real will only sanction Diaz’s departure only if their €30m valuation is met and a buy-back clause is included that allows them to bring him back to the Bernabeu for a similar price. It is questionable whether a club as high of principles as AC Milan will agree to such a deal, but Stefano Pioli’s insistence on keeping the youngster might force them to rethink.

Besides Brahim Diaz, AC Milan want to sign Fikayo Tomori on a permanent deal too

However, Brahim Diaz is not the only loanee who AC Milan want to sign permanently. Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori, who joined the Rossoneri this season in a loan deal, has been rock solid in their defence throughout the season and head coach Stefano Pioli wants to keep him too. However, unlike in the case of Brahim Diaz, things are not going to be so complex in Tomori’s transaction. The defender is happy at Milan, and Chelsea are ready to sell.

The Rossoneri are going to have a busy Summer transfer window. Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has already been shown his way out by AC Milan’s management due to his high wage demands. Now, AC Milan’s regular starter Hakan Çalhanoğlu is being linked to FC Barcelona and a probable swap deal with Junior Firpo looks highly possible.
