Umran Malik Biography: Umran Malik born on 22nd November 1999 is an Indian right-handed bowler who represents the state team of Jammu and Kashmir in domestic and appeared for SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad) in the 2021 Indian Premier League. He came under national talks after bowling five straight balls above the speed of 150 kmph and scored a new record of fastest bowling with a bowl of 153.75 kmph in the IPL between a match of SRH against RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore). Umran also represented the state cricket team at the 2020-2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy and the 2020-2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Umran Malik Biography: Early Life

Umran was born in a fruitmonger family facing financial instability. He was engrossed in the sport and practiced the sport on daily basis with his friends. At starting, he played the sport for amusement but later at the age of 17, he decided to pursue the sport professionally.

At the age of 17, he enrolled his name at the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council to train the sport professionally. While training, he was spotted by Coach Randhir Minhas who was astonished by his bowling skills. His coaches helped in shaping his bowling skills and secure a spot in the state team. He made his selection in the state team but was never selected in the top eleven.

He was disappointed with his inferiority in the team. While practicing in the nets, his bowling skills astonished the coach of Assam state and condemned the selectors to select him in the playing eleven. It was fortunate for him to get selected in the squad and was mentored by former cricketer, Irfan Pathan. Soon, he was part of the state team for the representation at the 2020-2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Umran Malik Biography: Career

  • He made his first astonishing appearance at the 2020-2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Umran made his T20 debut representing Jammu and Kashmir State against Railways. In his first debut, he took 3 wickets giving 24 runs.
  • After some months, he was fortunate to represent the team at the 2020-2021 Vijay Hazare Trophy and make his first List A debut. He made his List A debut against the team of Bengal and managed to pick one wicket giving 93 runs.
  • He also managed to appear at the 2021 Indian Premier League.
  • His first ODI appearance for India comes against New Zealand in November 2022. He took his maiden wicket, Devon Conway.

  • Umran was selected by SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad) in the 49th IPL match played against KKR (Kolkata Knight Riders). He was selected in the playing eleven as a replacement for an injured player, Sandeep Sharma, who also is a fast bowler.
  • He made his next appearance against RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) as a replacement for the covid positive T Natrajan and astonished everyone with his high pace bowling calibrating new IPL records.
  • In the match, he bowled constant bowls above the speed of 150 kmph. In his over, he bowled a bowl of speed 153.75 kmph throwing the fastest bowl in IPL history. He grabbed one wicket in the match.
